For the second consecutive year, The Herd is raising money through the Herd Mental Health Fund to support a wellness program on campus. All funds raised this March will support the Peer Wellness Coaching program. Every gift makes a difference.

This fall, a new introductory data science course, Interdisciplinary Data Science for All (AHUM 1825), aims to empower students to view data through a humanist lens and to see the humanity within data.
"AHUM 1825 is going to break down the boundary between the qualitative and quantitative. This is the kind of course that will get [students] thinking about knowledge and problem-solving in a new way."

Instructors will soon receive email communications requesting book and course material information for fall 2021 courses. As a reminder, campus policy states faculty and departments are required to identify what books and other course materials are required for their classes before the day that students begin to register for classes.
In addition, Colorado Revised Statute 23-1-134 requires the university to collect all book and course material information, including materials with no cost or courses with no required books or materials, to ensure students are informed prior to course registration which courses and sections use open educational resources (OER) or other low-cost course materials. Please submit all book and course material information, including materials that are free or courses with no materials required.
Course material information is critical to provide financial transparency to our students and to help them plan ahead. It is also needed in order for the university to maintain Higher Education Opportunity Act and Americans with Disabilities Act compliance. Disability Services needs sufficient lead time to gain access to and prepare books and materials in suitable alternative formats for students who need them.

The order deadline to receive your regalia for the Grad Appreciation Days is Friday, March 26. If you do not wish to wear your regalia to the Grad Appreciation Days, you have until 11:59 p.m. MDT Friday April 2 to receive the regalia by the first week of May.

The Emotive Computing Lab at CU Boulder is looking for participants for a study of eye movements and brain activity during learning.
You are eligible to participate in this research study if you:
The study requires one visit of between 2 and 3 hours to the lab on CU Boulder’s East Campus (1777 Exposition Drive, Boulder, CO 80309; see COVID-19 safety procedures below), plus one 30-minute follow-up questionnaire to be completed online.
The first visit will involve having your eye movements, physiological responses (e.g., heart rate), video of your face/upper body, and brain activity non-invasively recorded while you complete a computer-based reading task and answer several questionnaires. It will take approximately 2 to 3 hours, and you will be paid $20 per hour for a total of $40-60.
About a week later, you will complete a 30-minute online survey; upon completion you will receive an additional $10. Note that travel compensation is not provided.
If you are under 18, your parent or guardian will also need to provide consent.
We will take utmost care to ensure your safety for the duration of the visit, with stringent procedures approved by CU administration.
Payment will be via an Amazon gift card.

The deadline for bands to enter is today, March 5, but voting runs through March 12. First, second and third place will be awarded based on the amount of likes their video receives. Prizes include a writeup by CU Independent, recording studio time, air time with Radio 1190, livestream shows with Club 156, gift cards and more.
The Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG) has opened applications for their 2021–22 academic year leadership team. GPSG has openings for 32 paid positions, which means there is likely a position that matches your interests!
