Work-study opportunities for summer

The Office of the Registrar is seeking friendly, hard-working and professional students for front-desk reception positions. Applicants must be undergraduate Colorado residents who already have a summer 2017 work-study award. The front desk is staffed 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate would work at least 10 to 20 hours per week across multiple weekdays. Duties include processing verifications, answering registration questions, greeting visitors and answering emails. This position requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail and a positive attitude. Hourly pay starts at $9–$10, depending on experience.

Young adult mood study: Earn up to $200

Are you between 18 and 25 years old? Interested in your moods and thoughts?

Participate in a paid study on emotion and mood in the CU Department of Psychology and Neuroscience. Earn up to $200 to participate in studies answering questions about your feelings and thoughts, watching brief films, playing computer games, and logging emotions and activities.

The study includes two separate visits, each paying $10 per hour in cash. The first visit will last two to three hours, and the second is four hours. There will be an added option for paid follow-up phone interviews.

Reception, gallery and talk: 'Heart Mapping: Indigenous Perspectives on Land'

The Jerry Crail Johnson Earth Sciences & Map Library at the University of Colorado Boulder will host a gallery talk and reception for Heart Mapping: Indigenous Perspectives on Land, a series of mixed-media works by Melanie Yazzie, CU professor of art and art history and head of printmaking.

Visiting artist Faith McManus, art teacher at Northtec Education Institute in Northland, New Zealand, will be joining Yazzie in discussing the exhibit.

Light refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public. The Earth Sciences & Map Library is located in the Benson Earth Sciences Building.

The event is taking place from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, May 19. The exhibit will be shown through July 7.

Summer bus pass suspension for students

Passengers wait to load RTD bus
For students who are not enrolled in summer terms, but returning for the fall semester, their bus passes will be suspended beginning May 26 through Aug. 1, 2017. To keep the pass working over the summer, students can visit the Buff OneCard office in C4C and purchase an “optional bus pass” for $85 (if purchased from RTD directly it would cost $342). This program is also available for residents of family housing. For those who are enrolled and paying mandatory fees for a summer term(s), no further action needs to be taken and their pass will continue to work. Ethics and Compliance Brown Bag: Best Practices in Hosting Minors on Campus

This month's Ethics and Compliance Brown Bag presentation is from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, May 22, at the Rec Center Ice Rink Overlook Large Meeting Room. The session will feature a presentation by Carolyn Peet, interim director of University Risk Management at the University of Colorado Boulder, on the subject of best practices in hosting minors on campus. Peet will provide a general overview of the current Child Protection Policy as well as share important updates and valuable resources to support faculty, staff and students who are working with or managing youth programs on campus. Seeking volunteer research assistant in psychology

The Colorado Family Project is looking for an undergraduate volunteer research assistant. We are a clinical psychology research laboratory working with children and adolescents at risk for developing bipolar disorder. Some clinical experience is preferred but not necessary. Spring Campus Tree Walks

CU Museum of Natural History and Facilities Management will be hosting their annual Spring Campus Tree Walks with Arborist Vince Aquino and Alan Nelson, retired Outdoor Services director. Two tours will be offered: the first from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, and the second from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17. Rain or shine. Tours are free, open to the public and will start at the south entrance of the CU Museum of Natural History at 15th and Broadway. Reservations are not required. All ages are welcome.
