Call for programs: Women’s Leadership Symposium

Join us as a presenter at the 2022 Women’s Leadership Symposium! This year’s theme is Filling Each Other’s Cups: Collaboration and Compassion

The symposium seeks to explore a variety of ways women/women-identified individuals build their leadership skills and feel empowered to become tomorrow’s leaders. We are especially interested in proposals that will intentionally address the needs and interests of student audiences as part of the submission. Intergenerational or multi-audience proposals are also highly valued.

We encourage staff and students to collaborate on proposal submissions that address our key themes:

  • Describe gendered challenges present at CU and in the broader workplace.
  • Describe a leadership style or core tenet and how attendees can operationalize this style or tenet.
  • Connect knowledge and skills to future professional pursuits.

The deadline to submit is Jan. 7, 2022.

Communicating for student success: December and spring 2022 milestones and actions for faculty, staff, advisors

Each month, communications milestones and actions will be shared with faculty and staff related to the monthly CU Boulder Today update on the student-centered approach to teaching and learning. It aims to provide student-facing staff and faculty a quick glimpse into the month’s key milestones for undergraduate students, along with links to corresponding communications. Each feature will also include topics and resources staff and faculty can highlight when having conversations with students.

Milestones for December and the spring semester

  • Students should now be registered for spring 2022. Those who did not register during their enrollment period have been emailed and texted. It’s not too late to register and/or meet with their advisor.
  • Students will finish finals by Dec. 15 and grades will be posted throughout the following week. Students will be able to see all of their grades in Buff Portal’s grades and GPA card by Dec. 23.
  • Winter break:

Actions to support students

  • Encourage students to log in to Buff Portal. This is where they’ll see holds they may need to clear before registering for spring and also where they’ll see their fall 2021 grades.
    • Students can view a description of each hold, including instructions for clearing the hold and contact information for the office that manages the hold.
  • If students didn’t do as well in the fall as they had hoped and are worried about their grades, let them know that they’ll be contacted by their dean’s office during the weeks of Jan. 3 and 10, if they are receiving a notification about poor academic standing. Otherwise, encourage them to reach out to their academic advisor or academic coach during the week of Jan. 3.
  • Students living in the residence halls will need to be moved out by Dec. 16 at 1 p.m. They can begin moving back in for spring 2022 on Jan. 7 at 10 a.m. There will be limited campus dining offered during break.
  • If students have struggled to make connections this semester, encourage them to participate in Spring Welcome events in January. They can view events happening all semester long by downloading the CU Boulder Life app
