Low-cost therapy for students

Struggling with anxiety or depression? Feeling down, hopeless or stuck in a cycle of unproductive worry? Low-cost teletherapy is available through CU Boulder’s Raimy Psychology Clinic, for individuals residing in Colorado. Sessions are held through the videoconferencing platform Zoom.
    
Raimy Clinic therapists can provide help coping with stress, depression, anxiety, relationship issues and other difficulties during this very challenging time! Study investigating neuromuscular function and balance in adults with multiple sclerosis

Researchers in the Neurophysiology of Movement Lab are conducting a study to investigate the acute influence of sensory stimulation on neuromuscular function and balance. They are looking for adults ages 18–65 with a clinically confirmed diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. Participants must be able to walk but have some difficulty walking. The study involves two separate in-person visits to our lab on CU Boulder Main Campus separated by 4–6 days. The evaluation sessions are approximately two hours each, and participants will be paid up to $100 for completing the study. Participants needed for technology study

Researchers at the Institute of Cognitive Science are seeking men and women volunteers to participate in a research study investigating how technology can either facilitate or hinder teams performing tasks. The experiment will take approximately 1.5 hours. Participants must be 18 years or older and will be compensated at $15 an hour. Participants will also earn money through performance in the task. This informal lecture series is a great way to learn about the historical context, production history and behind-the-scenes aspects of the plays. Even though we are not gathering in person, you can still enjoy this lecture from the comfort of your home.

A fun and easy way to introduce your child to Shakespeare’s captivating stories! CSF staff (Amanda Giguere and Tamarra Nelson) will bring the magic, the mystery and the adventures of "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "The Odyssey," "Pericles," and "The Comedy of Errors" to life! Storytime sessions will encourage movement, play and active exploration, whether virtual or in person.

In-person sessions (Tuesdays) will be held outdoors, on CU Boulder's campus, with masks and physical distancing required for all participants. Bring a blanket, water, some sunscreen and be prepared for all kinds of weather! Virtual sessions (Wednesdays) will be held on Zoom. Maximum of 10 participants.

Virtual Shakespeare class

The Colorado Shakespeare Festival invites students ages 12–18 to virtually study Shakespearean acting techniques with CSF professionals!

Each two-hour training session will feature a member of the CSF Company or a rockstar from the larger theater world. Guest artists will share their favorite tips and acting exercises to help you strengthen your own performance skills.

CSF summer programming: Watch ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ or ‘The Comedy of Errors’ from home

Colorado Shakespeare Festival staged and filmed these two small-cast productions in the Mary Rippon Theatre in August, and have been sharing them with K–12 schools throughout the school year. For the first time ever, we’re making this innovative program available to you!

Your ticket includes:

  • A link and password to either Much Ado About Nothing (45 minutes; recommended for ages 12 and up) or The Comedy of Errors (30 minutes; recommended for all ages), so you can watch the shows wherever, whenever!

  • Bonus content! Both titles were developed to highlight violence prevention opportunities. Your package includes a 15-minute virtual workshop video, featuring actors from the performance, and an extensive study guide.

Cyclists needed for research project on sprint performance

The CU Locomotion Laboratory is looking for subjects for a road cycling shoe study that you may be eligible for! 

Participants must:

  • Be over 18 years old
  • Be in good health
  • Cycle (outdoors or indoors) at least four hours per week
  • Have at least one year of road biking experience
  • Be able to comfortably ride either a 52- or 56-cm road bike frame
  • Fit a shoe size of Euro 38–39 or 43–45

Participation involves two approximately two-hour long sessions: riding a series of 50-meter sprints on an uphill road in Boulder and riding a series of standing start sprints inside the Locomotion Lab at CU Boulder. The repeat sprints will compare different road cycling shoe models.

Participants will receive one $25 Amazon gift card per 2-hour session.

COVID protocols: Participants in this study will be screened prior to participation, researchers are required to wear masks, and the testing bikes will be sanitized between subjects.

Register for Centering Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Undergraduate Research and Creative Work

The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR)'s Undergraduate Research Programs Division and the Committee on Diversity & Inclusion present a first step in response to the national call for awareness and action on diversity, equity and inclusion. This a virtual conference to serve as a platform for professionals to share, learn, listen and grow in areas of this integrated focus, in order to adequately contribute to the ongoing transformation of the undergraduate research environment on our campuses. Using creative facilitative approaches including critical conversations and innovative presentations related to the installation, operation, maintenance and application of undergraduate research structures in higher education institutions, this conference promotes the exploration and adoption of effective tools and processes for change, that will generate a range of equitable and inclusive opportunities for the advancement of undergraduate research. Target audience: Professionals who support the undergraduate research enterprise including mentors, administrators, faculty and industry partners.

Buff Bus summer schedule begins Thursday, May 6

The Buff Bus will begin operating on its summer schedule beginning Thursday, May 6.

Service changes include:

  • Williams Village/Bear Creek and Marine Street Express will be out of service for the summer beginning Thursday, May 6, and will resume in the fall semester.
  • Stampede service will continue to operate Monday through Friday throughout the summer season.

COVID-19 Vaccine Bus.

Students, staff, faculty and the Boulder community can get a COVID-19 vaccine at a mobile vaccine clinic on Tuesday, May 4. The mobile vaccine clinic, hosted by the Colorado Department of Public Health (CDPHE) will be offering the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) near the Village Center at Williams Village

It’s important to get vaccinated to support your own health, but also to strengthen the community for your family and friends. If you are leaving Boulder for the summer, please sign up for a vaccine before you travel.
