The Cognitive Development Center in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience is looking for children age birth to 12 years old who are interested in playing games that will help teach us about self-control, language and cognitive strategies.

A visit, scheduled at your convenience, lasts about 60 minutes. Babysitting is available for siblings. Parents are compensated for travel and kids receive a fun prize.

Gender, Race, & Tourism in Contemporary Cuba Global Seminar

Want to study gender, race and tourism through an anthropological lens in Cuba this summer? Earn 6 credits in five weeks on an exciting Global Seminar! You will visit museums and places of cultural and historical relevance, and there will be excursions to other parts of the country beyond the capital city of Havana.

The Center for Values and Social Policy invites you to a Think! talk by Philosophy Professor Michael Huemer titled "Why We Are Irrational About Politics."

Why doesn't everyone agree with you about politics? The best explanation is they are being irrational and not, for example, that political issues are especially difficult or we lack sufficient information to resolve them. Huemer will discuss why people are especially irrational about this particular subject, and how and why they adopt the beliefs they want to adopt. The bad news: You're probably being irrational, too.

Please join us as Daan Roggeveen, renowned architect and partner at MORE Architecture, delivers a lecture on Chinese urban development and architecture.

The Chinese metropolis has developed into the world’s most successful urban scheme. Combining bottom-up energy with top-down force, it pushes cities and their inhabitants towards progress, fast-forward. China’s megacities are efficient, with well-functioning infrastructures, top-notch public transport, proper housing, steady economic growth, a low crime rate, an attractive climate for foreign investors and a glitzy skyline to boot. Can this metropolis be the blueprint for cities worldwide?

In this lecture, Roggeveen questions and investigates the current condition of the (Chinese) megacity and its shift from prosperity to progress. Connecting theory with practice, Roggeveen reveals a new understanding of the 21st century urban condition. Starting in Shanghai, this lecture describes a transformation towards a post-colonial urban condition in which Chinese urbanism will impact cities globally.

This month's Ethics and Compliance education series presentation is Monday, Sept. 25, exploring HIPAA, FERPA and compliance at Wardenburg Health Services.

The presentation will feature Jane Huseman and Michele Van Pelt with Wardenburg Health Services, providing insights into the ethical considerations around health records for both students and non-student patients. This session will provide a baseline understanding of the intricacies around patient privacy and ensure each attendee has the knowledge to better support our students.
