Fire restrictions in place for unincorporated Boulder County

On April 21, the Boulder County sheriff, Joe Pelle, enacted level 1 fire restrictions for the unincorporated areas of Boulder County. These are the the rural, mountainous and plains communities that are not a part of any incorporated municipality that CU Boulder community members may live in or visit.

In these unincorporated areas, the restrictions prohibit:

  • Open fire, campfire or stove fire (including charcoal barbecues and grills) on public land.
  • The sale, use and possession of fireworks, including permissible fireworks.
  • Smoking, except in an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials.
  • And more.
