The Office of First-Generation Programs and Enrichment within the Center for Inclusion and Social Change is excited to be working with faculty and staff across CU Boulder to best support first-generation college students both in and out of the classroom.
Research shows that finding systems of support and community in college is critical toward student success and retention. To assist with these efforts, we are gathering a list of faculty and staff who are first-generation and/or those who would like to be a support system for students who are the first in their families to go to college. It is our hope that by creating a community of faculty and staff who share this identity and/or passion for this student population, we can connect our students to resources and mentors and help them find their sense of belonging on campus.
If you identify as first-generation and/or would like to support this student population, please complete this survey by Friday, Aug. 13, at 5 p.m. MDT. We will use the information shared to create a community of supporters on our website and pass along information about future events. While we encourage and welcome active participation in future programs, we recognize that our bandwidths and workloads are all different. Please note that you define how involved you want to be with this initiative and future programs.
We want to thank you in advance for your support and commitment to our first-generation college students. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
