FIRST scholar Gary Holcomb explores black counterculture in Queer Black Renaissance course

The Harlem Renaissance opened the door for a vital queer black literary arts awakening. This seminar will explore such questions as how an interwar period queer black counterculture played a crucial role in bringing into being black modernist aesthetics, Black transnational culture, and black radical political action—nationalist, Pan-Africanist, and Marxist. ENGL 5529-200. Tues/Thur 12-4:10 p.m., B Term. Register today at myCUinfo. Gary Holcomb, the English Dept's FIRST scholar, is a professor of African American studies at Ohio University.
