In "The Land of Many Palaces," co-directors Adam Smith and Song Ting chronicle the transformation associated with rapid urbanization in the Inner Mongolian city of Ordos. The film follows a government official who must convince local farmers that their lives will be better off in the city, and a farmer in one of the last remaining villages in the region who is pressured to move.
