This course introduces students to the major trends in Russian culture from the 1890s to the present. In addition to learning about the history of this turbulent period (WWI, revolutions, the great terror, the GULag, WWII, the Cold War, perestroika, the collapse, post-Soviet Russia), we will study the literature, art and cinema of this time.
