RUSS 2231-010, Fairy Tales of Russia: Fall 2013 Core Course

This course introduces students to the rich tradition of Russian folk belief, mythology and fairy tales. Students will examine, on the one hand, how Russian folk belief and fairy tales reflect cultural, social and political values. On the other hand, students will analyze how Russian and Soviet artists, writers and politicians have utilized folk belief and fairy tales in service of their own ideologies and programs. Taught in English. Approved for arts and sciences core curriculum: literature and the arts.
