Aug. 31 marks Overdose Awareness Day. At CU Boulder, we want to raise awareness, support those impacted by an overdose and share ways to prevent overdoses in the future. While a single day to acknowledge overdose is important, our conversation won’t stop there. Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 19, Health Promotion will begin hosting monthly How to Save a Life: Overdose Prevention and Response trainings that will teach attendees how to recognize and respond to both alcohol poisoning and opioid overdoses. These trainings will be held at the University Memorial Center (UMC), room 404, at noon and 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19; Tuesday, Oct. 17; and Tuesday, Nov. 14. They are about 30 minutes long and open to students, faculty and staff. At 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, Health Promotion, Counseling and Psychiatric Services, the CU Collegiate Recovery Center and the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program will come together to share stories of those who have experienced or been impacted by overdose, connect people to resources on campus and teach overdose prevention and response skills.
