CU NightRide is a student-operated program dedicated to meeting the safety needs of CU students, faculty and staff by providing nighttime transportation to support a safe academic and socially responsible environment, both on campus and in the community.

Summer 2023 operating hours for the Boulder campus will be 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., effective Monday, May 15, through Saturday, August 19.

On Sunday, August 20, the Boulder campus will return to its regular operating hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The standard operating hours are also core business hours for student-, employee- and customer-facing services/offices. Offices that are student-, employee- or customer-facing should attempt to maintain a consistent schedule allowing for in-person services to be provided particularly during periods or hours of high demand.

June 15

Graduate students who have not already done so must apply online to graduate through buff portal on the “apply for graduation” card in order to have the degree awarded in August. This is required even though there is no university-wide ceremony. PhD students must enter their dissertation title as part of the online graduation application; you may update the title through the portal until this date. This title will appear on your transcript after your degree is awarded.

June 15

Master's students must submit to the Graduate School a Candidacy Application for an Advanced Degree. Applications follow a workflow process and must be approved by the academic department before they are directed to the Graduate School.

July 25

Doctoral students must complete the PhD dissertation defense or final examination by this date. Notice of the examination must be provided to the Graduate School using the doctoral final examination form two weeks before the exam.

Aug. 1

PhD students must submit the dissertation with the single-page Thesis Approval Form to ProQuest by this deadline. The dissertation must be submitted electronically for review and approval by Graduate School staff by the end of the business day. The Thesis Approval Form (TAF) must be uploaded as a supplemental file with the dissertation in order for the submission to be complete. Students whose dissertations are received after this deadline, or those not submitted with the TAF, must apply to graduate at the following semester's commencement.

During maintenance that affects the portals, such as the maintenance scheduled for Saturday, May 13, remember that you can directly access Canvas and some other services that are provided through the portals.

Beginning this summer, CU Boulder Facilities Management teams, with the support of the ADA compliance office, will be upgrading building access. 

In addition to the $3.4 million classroom security project that addresses security upgrades for 300 rooms across campus, campus is also prioritizing upgrades to exterior doors to make them operable with Buff OneCard readers so there are fewer exit-only doors.

Many campus buildings typically have only one exterior door accessible via card reader. Eighteen buildings will have additional doors added to the campuswide system that allows them to be controlled electronically and on a schedule such that they will be accessible to those with Buff OneCards.

If you notice access issues, including broken doors/locks and ADA issues, contact your building proctor, who will connect with Access Services and/or the ADA compliance office.

Instructional faculty and staff interested in integrating the Buffs One Read title, The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World, into their curriculum for first-year students can access a research guide and an open Canvas course.

The Basic Needs Center is recruiting volunteers to support the Buff Pantry and upcoming mobile food pantries this summer! Volunteer opportunities are open to students, faculty and staff. Individual volunteers and groups are welcome.
