Don't be that person: Flatten cardboard boxes during move-in

Please flatten boxes

Move-in is often a hectic time of year for students, parents, staff and faculty across campus. While you are immersed in all the excitement and errands, please take the time to flatten your cardboard boxes for recycling.

Each year during move-in, CU Recycling staff spend over 400 collective staff hours just flattening cardboard boxes. One intact box can take up over 10 times the space of a flattened box,; plus, it can set a bad example and lead to a cardboard box pile-up. The few seconds it takes to break down your boxes can add up to a smooth and efficient move-in for everyone.

No box cutter? No problem! Give an empty box a firm punch on the taped bottom and then fold it down all the way flat at the corners.
