Study includes some or all of the following parts:

• Option No. 1 – Behavioral Lab Visit: Interview about thoughts and feelings; physiological monitoring (heart rate); computer tasks; questionnaires (4-5 hours, $15/hour)
• Option No. 2 – fMRI Visit: View videos and pictures and think about emotions while in a brain imaging scanner; computer tasks; questionnaires (3 hours, $25/hour)
• Option No. 3 – Pressure Pain Task Visit: One computer task involving tolerable pressure pain; physiological monitoring (heart rate); computer tasks; questionnaires (1-2 hours, $15/hour)

Additional opportunities to participate in paid research may be available.

To qualify, you must be between the ages of 18 and 45 and have either:

• A diagnosis of bipolar disorder
• A history of depression
• Not have any history of mental health conditions

The Sustainability Buffs Leadership Program launches this fall to provide undergraduate students the skills and support to turn their great ideas into reality, on campus and in future careers.

The program will run for eight weeks on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Sept. 17 through Nov. 4, with one all-day retreat. The program is open to students in every area of study. 

Applications are due Monday, Sept. 10. There is a $100 participation fee with financial assistance available.
 
Students that complete the Sustainability Buffs program this fall will be eligible to complete the next phase of the Sustainability Leadership Program, available in future semesters. Sustainability Buffs will be offered both fall and spring semesters for interested students.

The Emotive Computing Lab at CU Boulder is looking for participants for a study of collaboration. 

You are eligible to participant in this research study if you:

• Are a CU Boulder student at least 18 years of age
• Speak English
• Do not have significant and uncorrected vision impairments
• Have not previously played Physics Playground or a similar game (e.g., Crayon Physics Deluxe, Magic Pen) for more than an hour

The study contains two parts: 

1. An at-home portion where you fill out surveys and practice the game, lasting one hour
2. A visit to the lab, which will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time, lasting two hours

You will receive payment after participating in both parts of the study. You will be compensated with $50 in Amazon gift cards.

Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 3, and is a university holiday (no classes). 

There are a number of dining venues open for students. Please note all university libraries are closed, and CU Night Ride will not be operating Sept. 1–3. Regular operating hours resume Tuesday, Sept. 4.

CU Student Government (CUSG) is offering free bus rides for all students to Friday's Rocky Mountain Showdown at Mile High Stadium in Denver. 

The buses will begin departing around 4 p.m. Students can line up along the ramp outside of the CU Event Center. Availability is on first-come, first-served basis, and you will need your Buff OneCard to ride. Please also note, if you are taking anything with you, it needs to be in a clear bag due to stadium policy.

On the way back, buses will begin departing as early as halfway through the fourth quarter and will continue to board until all the seats are full. 

Don't have a game ticket? Sign up to volunteer and get a free ticket, courtesy of CUSG. Volunteers will need to meet outside of the event center around 3:30 p.m. to help get students onto the buses, and they will then ride the buses down to the game. The Travel Channel is filming a new season of Food Paradise and will be featuring the "world-famous" Sink restaurant’s food. The Sink's management is inviting guests to come in Thursday, Aug. 30, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and “see if you’ll make it on TV!”

If you’re not familiar with the show, Food Paradise airs every Sunday night and is one of the Travel Channel’s longest-running series. Every one-hour episode has a theme and features eight restaurants in the U.S.

The Sink first attracted the media’s eye in 2012 with a feature on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. This attention must have reached the White House, because soon after the premiere, President Barack Obama surprised The Sink with a visit. A year later, in 2013, late Chef Anthony Bourdain and Chef Eric Ripert, reminiscent of The Sink’s angel/devil, brought their Good vs. Evil tour VIP party to The Sink.

It looks like the Travel Channel will continue the hype.

The Boulder Public Library invites proposals for projects ranging from a few days to two months that intertwine visual display, socially engaged art and/or installations with a live program, interactivity and collaborative happenings. Presentations in the gallery are as much about process as product, and we want visitors to be engaged in all levels. 

Multidisciplinary groups are encouraged to plan and apply together. Traditional art exhibitions will be considered, however, preference will be given to individuals/groups who present projects based on the above specifications. Honorariums may be available depending on the scope of the project.

The Hearing Research Laboratory at CU Boulder is seeking young adults, ages 18–30, with normal hearing to participate in a study on sound perception. 

The study investigates the sound quality of music processed through simulations of cochlear implants. Testing will take place on campus. Listeners will be compensated for their time.
