Undergraduates: Caps and gowns are now available at the CU Book Store

Graduating this December? Stop by the CU Book Store to purchase your regalia set, which includes the cap, gown, and degree tassel, for $34.99 (plus tax). Shop regalia in-store during store hours, follow instructions online for in-store order pick-up, or get more information on shipping deadlines and rates. Reminder: Graduate students need to purchase their regalia online. The deadline for purchase is 11:59 p.m. MST on  Nov. 12. 

Vote in the CU Student Government Elections

All students paying fees have until Friday, Nov. 10, to participate in the CUSG elections and pick your next at-large representatives. This election is an opportunity for you to lend your voice to the CU community, and all who are eligible are highly encouraged to participate!

CUSG will provide a link to all students via email, social media and newsletters when voting opens on Monday, Nov. 6. You will also be able to access the CUSG voting link through your Buff Portal. Visit CUSG’s election page to learn more about your candidates.

Join 2-hour study on robotic control

Earn $10 an hour to participate in a study on human control for tele-operated alignment tasks. The study should last around an hour, but you will be paid for the full two. To find out more information and/or schedule, please email almu3988@colorado.edu.

The International Festival Committee is looking for CU students, staff, faculty and community members to represent their culture or background by performing or hosting a booth at International Festival 2024!

Applications to host a booth at iFest 2024 are now open! Join us to celebrate CU Boulder’s diverse international culture in this fantastic event. This year’s theme is “Movies!” so be prepared for an extravagant night full of prizes, fun and culture.

Through iFest, students have the opportunity to represent and share their cultures with others. Through your booth, you can share cultural food, display several traditional artifacts such as artwork and clothing from your country, as well as informing guests about your culture and traditions.

The Center for Inclusion and Social Change invites you to nominate marvelous women in your community to be celebrated at our Women Who Make a Difference reception, a dinner recognizing mothers, grandmothers, advocates, friends, storytellers—any woman who has impacted your life in a positive way!

Last February, after receiving nearly 200 submissions, the CU Boulder transportation team announced the winning names of the electric bus naming contest: Ralph-E and Sko Bus.

Now we're opening up the contest again so our community can help us name our two newest electric Buff Buses! Cast your vote now for your two favorite names. Voting will run Oct. 23 through Nov. 3, and the winners will be announced the week of Nov. 13.

Learn about ballot processing firsthand by attending a Boulder County Elections Division in-person tour at the Boulder County Ballot Processing Facility – 1750 33rd St. in Boulder (off Arapahoe). Tours take approximately 30 minutes:

Strategic Relations and Communications is seeking undergraduates to participate in hour-long focus groups that will be held between Oct. 30 and Nov. 8. Those who participate have a chance to win one of ten $20 Amazon gift cards. 

We want to hear your opinions about how you receive your information and news at CU Boulder. Participation is confidential and all responses will be anonymous. The focus groups will be conveniently held on Zoom.

University Libraries to expand Norlin Common hours to midnight

Starting Nov. 5, the Norlin Library Commons, located on the first floor, will be open until midnight Sunday through Thursday as part of a pilot to support student success and needs. The expanded hours will continue until the end of final exams on Dec. 20. 

Anyone entering after 11 p.m. will need a Buff OneCard to swipe in at the east entrance. The rest of Norlin will close at 11 p.m.

Short on food? The Buff Pantry is here to support you

Buff Pantry

The Buff Pantry, CU Boulder's on-campus food pantry, is here to support all undergraduate and graduate students who are experiencing food insecurity.

Clients are welcome to visit the Buff Pantry one time per week and will receive approximately 20 pounds of food per visit. The Buff Pantry provides fresh produce; shelf-stable, refrigerated and frozen food; and personal care items at no cost to students. Food and personal care item selection will vary based on availability, donations and time of year.

The Buff Pantry is located in the University Memorial Center (UMC) basement 1B73, near the lower level of the CU Book Store and can be contacted via phone at 303-735-9863.

Calling all commuters: Your input requested on city of Boulder transportation projects

The city of Boulder is seeking community input on three transportation projects that aim to improve safety, increase mobility options and ease congestion for commuters along the major transportation corridors of Arapahoe Avenue, Baseline Road and Iris Avenue. 

The public is invited to:

  • Learn more about planning and construction efforts underway 
  • Comment on the improvements being considered
  • Provide your input on the existing conditions you would like to see improved 

Colorado 7 (Arapahoe) Segment A

The CO 7 Corridor Segment A project is tackling transportation challenges on the East Arapahoe Avenue Corridor (between 28th Street and 63rd Street).

Watch the most recent online public meeting presentation video, and provide input through the community questionnaire on the existing conditions you’d like to see improved and the proposed improvements being considered.

Baseline Road Transportation Safety project

The Baseline Road Transportation Safety Project features new crosswalks, lane narrowing to slow vehicle speeds and green conflict markings and curb-separated bike lanes on Baseline between 28th Street and Foothills Parkway.

The city of Boulder Transportation and Mobility Department is asking for community feedback on Phase 1 improvements to inform Phase 2 until Oct. 31.

Iris Avenue Transportation Improvements Project 

The Iris Avenue Transportation Improvements Project will implement transportation improvements to make Iris Avenue between Broadway and 28th Street safer, more connected and more comfortable. 

Design will begin in early 2024 after community input and data is collected and analyzed. Share your ideas, thoughts and experiences walking, rolling and traveling on this corridor via the Iris Avenue Transportation Improvements Project questionnaire.
