Do you identify as Asian and Latinx? Seeking participants for study on language, identity

Do you identify as Asian and Latinx? Were you born, partly raised, have resided in and/or have family heritage from Latin America? Do you speak or understand Spanish? Are you 18 and over?

If you answered yes to the questions above, consider participating in my study. My name is Tracy Quan and I am an assistant professor of Spanish linguistics at CU Boulder. I research the linguistic and cultural identities and practices of multifaceted populations. I am conducting a research study on the experiences of individuals who identify as Asian and Latinx.

Your participation will entail:

  • An online Qualtrics survey (approximately 15 mins long)
  • An online or in-person interview (approximately one hour long)

Google storage reduction timeframe extended

laptop computer

Over the past year we have been sharing information about Google’s elimination of unlimited free storage for the academic community and what it will mean for CU Boulder. Originally, Google planned to enact this new storage cap starting June 30, 2022; however, an extension was granted and so the reduction efforts will now happen in stages across the rest of the calendar year (until Dec. 31, 2022).

Monthly emergency warning siren testing to begin May 2

After a one-month delay due to community impacts from Boulder county’s recent wildfires, the Boulder Office of Emergency Management will begin audible emergency warning siren testing on Monday, May 2, at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Tests are conducted on the first Monday of each month from April through August. Planned tests may be canceled during severe weather events.

Siren tests ensure all systems and procedures are working properly during peak flood season and are meant to be audible throughout Boulder County.

CU Boulder community members may hear the siren tests from many locations on main campus. The audible sirens are designed to reach people who are outdoors, not indoors.

The tests are also a good reminder to sign up for alerts for both on-campus and off-campus emergencies. Information on CU Boulder Alerts can be found here, including user sign-up, how to find information in an emergency and the Guardian mobile safety app.

For off-campus incidents, all students, faculty and staff are highly encouraged to sign up for Everbridge to be notified of emergencies in the city of Boulder or Boulder County.
