Seeking volunteers for study on nervous system activity, contraction history

Have you ever wondered why it becomes increasingly more challenging to not spill your coffee the longer you have to transport that exquisitely full cup of liquid gold? Are you curious how the nervous system controls muscle after repeated bouts of contractile effort? So are we!

The Neurophysiology of Movement Lab is looking for healthy adults aged 18–45 years to participate in a research study investigating how the nervous system controls muscle force, using contractions that challenge force control.

The study involves one, 1.5-hour visit to our lab on the CU Boulder Main Campus.

If interested, please call 303-492-4975 or email kelsey.koger@colorado.edu and reference the "Contraction History" study.

CUEMS Basic Life Support classes: Updated schedule

Hello world

Take a basic life support class sponsored by the American Heart Association to have the skills to help those in need wherever you go! See the latest posted dates from the CU Emergency Medical Services student organization. These courses are a great introduction to what it means to be a first responder, medical professional and all around cool person. Compared to other market BLS classes, the program we provide is a total steal! Hope to see you there.

Get CPR/AED certified with CUEMS

The CUEMS (CU Emergency Medical Services) student organization offers Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for CU students, faculty, staff, alumni and unaffiliated community members. This is a three- to four-hour course where BLS is taught and demonstrated. Participants will learn how to recognize life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR and use an AED. This course provides a two-year certification through the American Heart Association. Classes are held on campus on weekends. Classes are $50, as compared to the market average of $80-$120 for AHA BLS certification courses. The full list of class dates can be seen at the sign-up link and on the poster.

This class is perfect if you are considering getting certified as an EMT or are pre-health––AHA BLS certification is required for most health care jobs and EMT certification. Enhance your resume, strengthen applications to medical, PA and nursing schools, and be ready to save a life in a cardiac or respiratory emergency.
