The Colorado Shakespeare Festival is launching our first-ever book club! Members will meet once a month to chat about the five plays in our 2018 season, guided by CSF staff. Experience the pleasure of discovering and discussing the richness of character, language, plot complications and modern interpretations of Shakespeare (and non-Shakespeare) plays with other Shakespeare fans. 

Participants must purchase their own copies of the plays. Seating is limited, so register today! Ages 18 and up. Price is $125.

Class meets monthly Jan. 24–May 16 on Wednesday evenings, 6–7:50 p.m., in the CSF Conference Room at 1301 Grandview Ave. in Boulder.

Do you love to stir up trouble? Prepare to get mischievous in this 10-week class, in which you'll explore Shakespeare's moments of mischief and magic in plays such as A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Tempest and The Comedy of Errors, among others. Discover how much fun it is to perform pranks, jokes and magic tricks in Shakespeare's plays. 

The class culminates in a showing of scenes and monologues for friends and families on April 26. Open to students of all experience levels and abilities.

Student Employment is currently accepting nominations for CU Boulder Student Employee of the Year. This award recognizes the contributions of student employees to the university community and honors their efforts. Work-study, hourly and salaried student-employees are eligible.

Faculty, staff and students may nominate a CU Boulder student-employee who is enrolled in a Boulder degree program at least half time and has completed or expects to complete at least three months full-time or six months part-time employment during this academic year (June 1, 2017, to May 31, 2018). You may nominate more than one student.

The first-place recipient will receive Buff gear donated by the CU Book Store and will be nominated for the Western Association of Student Employment Administrators Award. Second place will receive Buff gear donated by Student Employment.

The College of Arts and Sciences is pleased to announce that the Eaton Humanities building will be open 24 hours a day during finals week for students with a current Buff OneCard, providing an all-night study location on campus.        

• Eaton Humanities will be open 24 hours starting Friday, Dec. 15, through Tuesday, Dec. 19. (The building resumes its regular hours on Wednesday, Dec. 20.)
• Finals will be conducted in this building during regular business hours, so students should be respectful of this.
• After-hours access will only be through the south door.
• Students must have a valid Buff OneCard to enter.
• Security will be present in the building from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
• Auditoriums on each level will be not be available after hours.

The Cognitive Development Center in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience is looking for children age birth to 12 years old who are interested in playing games that will help teach us about self-control, language and cognitive strategies. 

A visit, scheduled at your convenience, lasts about 60 minutes. Babysitting is available for siblings. Parents are compensated for travel, and kids receive a fun prize.

The Center of the American West is proud to present the Wallace Stegner and the Humor Initiative’s Fool for a Day Award to Senator Alan Simpson, his wife Ann Schroll Simpson, Pete Simpson and his wife Lynne Simpson. Please join us for this once in a lifetime event.

Each year, the center of the American West presents the Wallace Stegner Award to an individual or group of individuals who have made a sustained contribution to the cultural identity of the West through literature, art, history, lore or an understanding of the West. The center also presents a Fool for a Day Award annually to celebrate those individuals whose skills and temperaments support the central conviction of the Center of the American West: A dose of good humor is essential to constructive public discussion and, not coincidentally, to public health.

The Center has combined the Stegner Award with the Humor Initiative to celebrate their contributions to our understanding of the West and to celebrate the opportunity to laugh as we do so.
