Move-in is often a hectic time of year for students, parents, staff and faculty across campus. While you are immersed in all the excitement and errands, please take the time to flatten your cardboard boxes for recycling. Each year during move-in, CU Recycling staff spend over 400 collective staff hours just flattening cardboard boxes. One intact box can take up over 10 times the space of a flattened box,; plus, it can set a bad example and lead to a cardboard box pile-up. The few seconds it takes to break down your boxes can add up to a smooth and efficient move-in for everyone. No box cutter? No problem! Give an empty box a firm punch on the taped bottom and then fold it down all the way flat at the corners.

Opening Aug. 26, the CU Boulder Museum of Natural History's latest exhibit "Curious Connections in Nature" will reveal unique and important links between organisms. The exhibit will feature interactive experiences, such as a web of life tunnel where participants can tug on strings to see how species are connected and how healthy ecosystems rely on certain species, and informative panels on ecology and personal stories of scientists.

If you are 18 to 35 years of age, healthy and free of neurologic disease, the Neural Control of Movement Lab, located on Main Campus, is conducting a study on the nervous system’s control of standing balance in young and older healthy adults. Participants will be compensated $40 for the experimental session.

The study will consist of two visits on separate days:

• First visit: familiarization session, approximately 15 minutes
• Second visit: experimental session, approximately 3 hours
• Lower leg muscle contractions
• Standing balance test

CU Athletics is looking for enthusiastic individuals who are interested in joining the Game Day Guest Relations Team for the 2017 football season. Guest relations team members will play a pivotal part in ensuring all visitors to Folsom Field have an enjoyable experience while cheering our Buffs to victory. If you suffer from chronic back pain you may be eligible to participate in a paid research study on the benefits of a novel mind-body treatment for chronic pain.

The research study consists of two MRI scan sessions four to six weeks apart on the CU Boulder campus, before and after treatment. Participants will be compensated $225. MRI is safe and non-invasive technology for measuring brain function, and participants will be given a photo of their brain to take home. The treatment will be administered at the Interventional Pain Management clinic at the University of Colorado Hospital at the Anschutz Denver metro campus.

Eligibility criteria:

• Age 21–70
• Back pain for the last three months or more
• No metal in the body (for MRI safety)
• No opioid use for more than four weeks in the past two years; opioids include common prescription painkillers like oxycodone (Percocet), hydrocodone (Vicodin) and meperidine
• Not pregnant due to unclear effects of MRI on a fetus
