October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, a global effort to help everyone stay safe and protected when using technology, whenever and however you connect. The theme for the month is "It’s easy to stay safe online," and the University of Colorado is proud to be a champion and support this online safety and education initiative again this year.

Stay tuned for new topics each week, cybersecurity plinko, and webinars intended for faculty, staff, researchers and students university-wide.

Strategic Relations and Communications seeks first- and second-year undergraduates to participate in an hour-long focus group being held throughout the week of Oct. 10. The focus groups will be conveniently held on Zoom.

We want to hear your opinions about different CU Boulder communications and sources of information. Participation is confidential, and all responses will be anonymous.

Come cheer on your friends and support Delta Gamma's Service for Sight philanthropy at the Spike for Sight volleyball tournament.

Students can purchase a ticket for the tournament for $8 online, or buy a ticket at the door. While the teams are made up of Fraternity & Sorority Life members, all students are welcome to come to the tournament to watch, support and donate to a good cause.

Service for Sight is a Delta Gamma-founded organization that works closely with the visually impaired community. The money raised through this organization is donated to the Anchor Center for Blind Children and the Boulder Guide Dogs for the Blind. Learn more about these causes.

The CU Climate Justice Team (CJT) is in place to seek solutions that address the root causes of climate change while educating students, staff, faculty and the Boulder community on the intersection of social, racial and environmental injustices. Oct. 1: Harvest of All First Nations Festival

Join CJT at the Harvest of All First Nations Festival to volunteer and make the event zero-waste. The event will focus on reparations and earth-based decolonization through Indigenous-led interactive workshops and community spaces. Come help make this beautiful event a reality and keep its footprint as small as possible.

Oct. 8: CU Climate Justice Workshop

Join CJT for the CU Climate Justice Workshop: Healing and Action from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This workshop aims to introduce climate justice in a variety of ways. We will revisit our forgotten history, engage in collective healing through music and dance, and learn the power of community organizing. Come learn how we are all part of the solution to issues such as climate change and social injustices.

Medical Services provides free flu shots for CU Boulder students and graduate students in a variety of locations on campus during the flu season. 

An annual seasonal flu vaccine is the best way to help protect against flu. Flu vaccination can reduce flu illnesses, doctors’ visits, and missed work and school due to flu, as well as prevent flu-related hospitalizations.

All boxes can be ordered online and are delivered to residence hall community centers same day if ordered by 10 a.m. Boxes ordered on Friday afternoons may not be delivered until the next business day.

The Construction Research Safety Alliance (CSRA)––based in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering––partners with industry professionals to understand construction safety needs, conduct scientific research, and share the results broadly as an open-source entity, in an effort to eliminate serious incidents and fatalities in the construction industry.

The annual CSRA Safety Summit is designed for all construction safety professionals in multiple sectors across the globe, including buildings, electric power generation and delivery, oil and gas, marine-dredging, and infrastructure. The event is designed to feature the latest information and research completed by the CSRA through workshops and exhibitions. With more than 300 guests, this will be an amazing opportunity to connect with peers, advocates and leaders in the field.

The Outdoor Recreation Economy program is pleased to announce the launch of its newest graduate certificate, Inclusivity in the Outdoor Recreation Economy. The first course in the certificate, Foundations of Inclusivity in the Outdoor Recreation Economy, will be taught in spring 2023 by Georgina Miranda, a social entrepreneur, adventure athlete, international speaker, consultant and activist.

During the maintenance window from 6 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25, Campus Solutions, MyCUInfo, MyCUBoulder, Buff Portal and some of the resources accessed through these services will be unavailable.

During maintenance that affects the portals, like the maintenance scheduled for Sept. 25, remember you can directly access Canvas and some other services that are provided through the portals.

If you’re on the hunt for an internship or job this year, I wanted to share a free resource I’ve been using that will match you with opportunities at companies such as eBay, Anheuser Busch and Amazon, that you won’t get ghosted by!

This resource is called RippleMatch. It’s just for college students and completely different from job boards like WayUp and Handshake. On RippleMatch, you have a feed of opportunities curated just for you, kind of like TikTok. You don’t have to scroll through thousands of opportunities like you do with job boards; instead, they come to you. I love it because it takes under five minutes to apply to each company and get your profile in front of a recruiter. Plus you’ll always hear back rather than getting ghosted by job boards.

If you're interested, you can sign up here. It’s a quick sign up process, and if you receive a match upon signing up, it’s best to apply right away because you have a higher chance of landing an interview. 

Dean of Students Devin Cramer is hosting a tailgate to celebrate the Buffs before the UCLA game for student organizations and fraternities/sororities at CU Boulder. Be one of the first student organizations to register to receive free meal cards or event funding for your group.

Location: Sewall Field
Registration deadline: Friday, Sept. 22. Registration is required to attend.

The first three student organizations and first three fraternity/sorority chapters to sign up will receive 15 CU Dining meal cards. The fourth student organization and fourth fraternity/sorority chapter to register will receive $320 to help fund an event or philanthropy. And to make sure our student organizations are decked out in gold for the Gold Rush game, students who attend the tailgate will receive a free gold Buffs T-shirt. There will also be music, games and food.

As part of the ongoing improvements to chilled water services across multiple buildings on Main Campus, there will be additional sidewalk closures. See the updated closure map on our Cone Zone page for details about detours and information on the project.

Additionally, there will be night construction commencing next to Hellems Arts and Sciences Building and is projected to continue through the weekend from Sept. 16 to Sept. 18. During this time, work vehicles will operate through the area between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Please be cautious as you navigate through Main Campus during these hours.
