Play collaborative learning games and earn $25

The Social, Emotional, and Cognitive Computing Lab at CU Boulder is looking for participants for a study of collaboration. You are eligible to participant in this research study if you:

  • Are a CU Boulder student at least 18 years of age
  • Speak English
  • Do not have significant and uncorrected vision impairments
  • Have not previously played Physics Playground or a similar game (e.g., Crayon Physics Deluxe, Magic Pen) for more than an hour

Spring commencement ceremony to be held May 7 at Folsom Field

CU Boulder will hold its spring commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 7, 2020, at Folsom Field.

Check the website for information including details about the campus ceremony, department or college recognition ceremonies, caps and gowns, announcements, ADA accessible services and parking. Master’s and doctoral students should order regalia soon, as rental ordering closes on April 3.

Undergrads: Crunched for time? How do you think about time? How do you spend your minutes, hours, days?

We are inviting current CU Boulder undergraduate students of all majors and backgrounds to participate in a study investigating the relationships between time use, perspectives on time, mental health and academic performance.

You must be 18 years or older to participate. Participants will complete two brief surveys over the course of the semester and receive up to $30 ($10 for completing the first survey and $20 for completing the second survey).
 
The first survey will take approximately 30 minutes to complete, and the second survey, which you will take near the end of the academic semester, will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. The IRB protocol number for this study is 20-0004. Sharing your thoughts and experiences by participating in this research has the potential to inform the development of programs and policies to support undergraduate wellness at CU Boulder.

Student orgs: Apply for UMC office space, lockers by Feb. 28

The UMC is accepting applications from student organizations for free office space or lockers for the fall 2020 semester. A central office is a fantastic way for your recognized student organization to become more accessible and productive, which will help you grow membership, promote your message and fulfill your mission.

In addition, the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) has lockers available for student organizations to use.

Apply online, or pick up an application in UMC 305. Applications must be submitted by noon Friday, Feb. 28.

Participants needed for human-robot interaction study

Hello from the IRON Lab! The CU IRON Lab in the ATLAS Institute is looking for participants to complete studies involving working with a robot (IRB #20-0032). These studies will further ongoing research into human-robot interaction.

Participants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be age 18 or older
  • Have ~30 minutes of time

Couples needed for paid research study

Couples needed! Participate with your partner in a research study investigating relationship and sexual satisfaction, mood and sexual intimacy. Participation requires one study visit with your partner lasting approximately one hour.

Each partner will earn $10 for participating ($20 per couple).

Eligible participants include those who meet the following criteria:

  • 18–35 years old
  • Currently in a monogamous opposite sex and/or cohabiting relationship 
  • Relationship duration of at least nine months
  • Sexually active 
  • English speaking 
  • Willing to be video recorded

Calling all writers: Thompson Awards for Western American Writing deadline March 17, $500 prizes

Are you a CU student working on a paper, poem, short story or essay on an American Western topic? Perhaps you are writing about public lands management; immigration; wildfires; the Colorado River; the Mexican-American War; art, music or film inspired by historic Western events, landscapes and languages; or getting a flat while on a road trip through the Mojave Desert.

Center of the American West is seeking entries for the 21st Thompson Awards for Western American Writing. Winners receive $500 and read their piece at an awards banquet attended by contest judges and community members.
